Groundwater Resources Division

Ground Water Resources Division of the Centre came into existence in November, 2012. Earlier this division was known as Water Resource Division II and was engaged in water resources activities mainly in eastern parts of U.P. covering nearly all revenue divisions of eastern U.P. and some revenue divisions of central U.P. The ground water exploration studies were conducted in Bundelkhand area using integrated techniques of Remote Sensing, Hydro geological and geo-electrical technique for user department such as, U.P. Jal Nigam, minor irrigation state tube well construction Division, etc.The division has carried out various specific projects in the above-mentioned areas or other areas of the State. Apart from exploration of groundwater using remote sensing and geophysical techniques, Preparation of groundwater prospect maps, Creation of natural resources and utility data base through remote sensing, GIS, GPS and surface geophysical surveys techniques etc. were also made by the division. The division has also participated in the activities of other divisions of the Centre for various integrated studies as & when required. Now as newly created division, this division is engaged mainly in ground water resources related studies viz. Ground Water Targeting, Geophysical survey for delineation of horizontal and vertical geometry of aquifers and aquifer mapping, studies for rainwater harvesting and artificial recharge of groundwater and studies related to groundwater assessment & management. Ground water quality studies have also been conducted in U.P. sodic land reclamation project and state water sanitation mission project and where & when needed. The well-established water analytical laboratory is also existed in the Centre.
