Agriculture Resources Division

The Agriculture Resources Division of RSAC-UP has been actively involved in the assessment & monitoring of crops using multi-temporal & multi-spectral Satellite data employing both digital & visual interpretation techniques. The major activity is to provide pre-harvest crop acreage & production estimates of major crops viz. wheat, paddy, mustard, potato sugarcane & Rabi pulses U.P. and estimates are being provided every cropping season to user departments. Other activities of the division are acreage estimation of large orchards like Mango, Aonla & Guava, and Sericulture developmental studies, cropping system analysis, crop damage assessment studies & crop condition Assessment Studies. The division has provided valuable contribution in completion of various state and national projects like land use Mapping, mapping of salt-affected soils of U.P., watershed characterization in major part of U.P. including Uttaranchal, soil studies in Tehri-Dam catchment area, waste Land mapping, methane gas status for measuring global warming, desertification status for U.P. part of M.P., Bihar, W.B. & Jharkhand. Division has undertaken various projects in collaboration with state government departments & different national institute like, NRSA-Hyderabad, SAC- Ahmedabad, Dept. of Science & Technology, and Govt. of India & state agricultural universities. The division has also been associated with projects funded by the international agencies like World Bank, JICA & EEC.
